Advantages/Disadvantages of Having a Bilingual Brain

“Human Brains” is a multidisciplinary path dedicated to brain studies and presented by Fondazione Prada between November 2020 and November 2022. This program of exhibitions, online activities and public meetings focused on neuroscience represents an intense cultural challenge for an institution like Fondazione Prada.

The project is the result of a complex research developed in collaboration with a scientific committee, chaired by Giancarlo Comi and formed by researchers, scholars, popularizers and curators such as Jubin Abutalebi, Massimo Cacciari, Viviana Kasam, Udo Kittelmann, Letizia Leocani, Andrea Moro and Daniela Perani.

“Human Brains: Conversations” is the second chapter of the project. Scheduled to run from September 2021 to April 2022, it consists of 7 pairs of video interventions given by international scientists, philosophers and researchers followed by 7 online conversations involving forms of interaction with the remote audience. “Conversations” is presented as an open platform for experimenting inclusive modes of exchange between scientists and scholars from different fields and a wide community of students, researchers, and individuals interested in neurosciences and brain studies in general.

Each conversation consists of a 40-minute online debate in which two researchers dialogue with each other via live streaming on a specific topic, coordinated by a moderator. Ten days before the conversation, speeches by the two experts introducing the topic will be available online.

The lecturers will focus on bilinguism and how it affects the human brain with the support of the latest scientific evidences.
