Benedikt Hipp “Songs from the Cave”

Galleria Poggiali, in its Milan location, presents the exhibition “Songs from the Cave” which marks its first collaboration with the German artist Benedikt Hip.

Born and raised in a small town in southern Bavaria to a family of old local artisans, producers of votive offerings, since he was a child Hipp was surrounded by these objects and used them as if they were toys. From his childhood, his artistic research has always been guided by the questions: where is the border between one being and another? Where do the individual end and society begin?

Using different media such as painting and sculpture, in his latest production of works for “Songs from the Cave” the artist explores the beliefs, rituals, and power of the archaic iconography of a sacred space par excellence, the cave.
