Marc Chagall “A Tale of Two Worlds”
The exhibition “Marc Chagall. A Tale of Two Worlds. From the collection of The Israel Museum, Jerusalem” at the MUDEC Museum in Milan explores Chagall’s work and cultural background.
The exhibition project presents these works along with the cultural context from which they originated: the language, the religious traditions, and the social conventions of the Yiddish Jewish community.
Over 100 works, many donated by Chagall’s family and friends, highlight some fundamental aspects of the artist’s life and creative work: from his roots in his native Vitebsk (in present-day Belarus), described with love and nostalgia in the series My Life, to the encounter with his beloved wife Bella Rosenfeld.
