Rachal Bradley and Joanne Robertson “Fingerblades”

Marking their first show together “Fingerblades”, Rachal Bradley and Joanne Robertson present each a series of new paintings. Their large-scale paintings reflect two distinct approaches tackling questions of representation and painterly gestures, while their large-scale works seek to overwhelm the gallery space physically. Robertson presents her on-going explorations into lyrical gestural abstraction, with swathes of paint and colour heaving on the surface that recall improvised poetry and form-finding. Bradley shows works on canvas that meditate on the relationship between image and the spatial dimensions of vision using screen printing and stenciling. At the center of their interaction as collaborators is conversation, which becomes the fulcrum of their interaction and exchange.
