Tiziano. L’impero del Colore

The movie “Tiziano. L’Impero del Colore” is a journey through the masterpieces and the life of Titian who embodied the soul of Venice with his unmistakable brushstrokes, unique use of color and the ability to capture the personalities of the protagonists of his works.

The director of the movie Giulio Boato says: “In this film we retrace the life and vast artistic production of Titian Vecellio, focusing on about fifty works: from large religious compositions to mythological scenes, to portraits and Venuses. By skimming the surface of the canvas, the camera makes the pictorial material and the thickness of the brushstrokes perceptible. We filmed the works in their actual context, in the most important churches and museums in Europe, to enjoy the relationship between the paintings and the space that houses them. Even the composition and lighting of the interviews harkens back to the pictorial atmosphere, echoing Titian’s famous psychological portrait”.
