Venice Time Case

Born from an idea of Luca Massimo Barbero, Venice Time Case is the first stage of a project about the journey of images. Five Fly Case suitcases will transport to the gallery fifty works created for this occasion by five emerging contemporary artists from the Venice area. The suitcases and the works will then travel through Europe, towards the successive stages of an exhibition that will culminate in their acquisition by a contemporary art museum.
The artists involved in this first chapter of Venice Time Case are all active in the Venetian area, often linked to the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. The lagoon city has always been a cosmopolitan place historically characterized by art and culture, of which, however, many contemporary realities are often ignored, pulsating but hidden. The selected artists were each invited to create their own work, a vision to be locked up as if in a cage, or protected as a delicate object, in one of the five suitcases made especially for the occasion by Apice. The works, all in the same format, created on the same support and exhibited for the first time in physical format, relate symbiotically to the Instagram format, where the project originated as what would once have been considered a “review”.
