When the Sirens Sounded. Diary of a Wounded Milan
Casa della Memoria presents a new exhibition in which history and memory are interwoven in the enthralling accounts of those who lived the fascism period. The photographies show the planes, the deafening sound of sirens, the impact of explosions, the rush to shelters and the conditions inside them, in the interminable wait for the alarm to cease along with many moving episodes that remained in the imagination of the time.
The exhibition “When the Sirens Sounded. Diary of a Wounded Milan,” curated by Roberta Cairoli and Fiorella Imprenti, reconstructs life (and death) during the bombing of the city of Milan with the devastating impact of the bombs both on the urban and on the social level.
