On the occasion of his first institutional solo show in Italy, artist Nicolas Party conceived a body of new works in close dialogue with masterpieces from the Poldi Pezzoli collection. Party’s new works, especially created for the spaces of the museum, challenge hierarchies and suggest a universal art which defies the aura of time. Inspired by the works by Sandro Botticelli, Bartolomeo Montagna, and Mariotto Albertinelli, Party’s new works opens original perspectives for his own practice, while shedding a fresh light on the extraordinary masterpieces of Italian painting to which the Poldi Pezzoli Museum has been a home since the 19th century.
